Introducing FamFit – return to exercise while bonding with your bub!

FamFit is a program designed to encourage parents with babies to take time for themselves, get moving, and connect with their baby. Both mum and dad are welcome to come along and get active. These sessions are not only about movement, but also about building connections and meeting other families on a similar journey. This one-hour session focuses on low-impact aerobic exercise, core strength, lower back strength, and pelvic floor engagement.

How do the sessions work?
Firstly, our team will support you in getting safely set up with your baby in a carrier. Our instructor will then guide you through a series of muscle-engaging exercises before transitioning into the aerobic component.
These sessions are self-paced, meaning you can slow down or step away whenever you need. The session finishes with a short mobility-based stretch, leaving you feeling accomplished and strong.

Why low impact?
During pregnancy, the body undergoes many changes, and these take time to recover. If high-impact exercise is introduced too early, it can place increased stress on the body. Areas that may be affected include hypermobile joints, the pelvic floor, abdominal wall, bladder/bowel, and lower back.
Low-impact exercise allows the body to gradually re-engage muscle groups and better support these areas during recovery.

When: Wednesdays in School term: Term 2- 29 April – 1 July
Cost: $10 per adult participant
Getting started:
Participants will need to complete a pre-exercise questionnaire before their first session. Hard copies are available at reception.

What do you need to bring?

For yourself:
Comfortable, supportive clothing, closed-toe shoes, and a water bottle.
For your baby:
Carrier, blanket (floor mat provided), weather-appropriate clothing, and your nappy bag.
Young siblings:
A toy or activity and a water bottle
As the session takes place on the basketball court, siblings are welcome to come along.
